What to Expect on the Day of Your Tandem
On the day of your scheduled tandem skydive, always call first to check on the weather. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and tennis shoes.
(Remember it is always colder at 10,000 ft.)
You will be fitted with a harness, goggles,
head gear, and a jumpsuit that goes over your clothing.
Plan to spend at least 3 or 4 hours to complete your skydive, due to a variety of unpredictable variables. We cannot guarantee that you will even be able to complete your skydive on your scheduled day,
but we will do everything possible to make it happen.
After registering, watching a training video, about 30 minutes of ground training, and successfully completing a hanging harness practice,
you will board a Cessna 206 or Twin Bonanza with your Tandem Master.
It takes about 20 minutes to climb to altitude (about 10,000 ft.).
You will experience about 30-45 seconds of free fall and about 5 to 7 minutes
under canopy, enjoying the spectacular views below,
all on video to share with family and friends, for an extra fee.
Better yet, bring your family and friends to cheer you on, go on a tandem
with you, or go on a $25 observation flight! It's out of this world!!
Be prepared to get hooked!!!
When you do, your first tandem will go towards
The Tandem Progression Program,
or you may prefer Static Line or AFF...
But, you must continue within 30 days.
You need to pass 10 levels (at least 9 jumps) of the Tandem Progression Program before soloing. That includes 4 tandems, with about 30 minutes of prior ground training, and 5 one Instructor Accelerated Freefall jumps, which take place after about 3 to 4 hours of ground training. These last 5 jumps consists of jumping with an instructor who holds on to you, makes sure you're stable, that you pull, etc., and you will land the parachute yourself, while being talked down with radio.
Prices go down with each subsequent jump and includes everything; gear, training etc., except video. (See link at the top for "Prices and Directions".) If 30 days or more lapses between jumps, you will have to revert back 1 level for each 30 days without a jump.
You need at least 25 jumps to get certified with an A License. After you complete all 10 levels of the Tandem Progress Program (or Static Line) successfully, you can solo or continue with coached jumps for the fast track. Get started today!!!
**More information on restrictions:
You will be asked to step on the scales when you arrive. There are federal requirements that prevent us from allowing jumpers to exceed certain weights. Remember, your safety comes first!
If you are within a few pounds of the limit, you may be considered on a case-by-case basis according to instructor availability and proper harness fit. If accepted by an available XL-rated tandem instructor, an additional fee will be applied...$1 per pound over the limit.
As with any sport, the better shape you are in, the easier it will be and the more fun you will have. However, one of the best features of the Tandem Program is that is has opened the sport up to the mainstream public. Almost anyone can make a tandem skydive. We've taken people with many different disabilities, even those who are missing limbs or are blind. (They will also be considered on an individual basis.) We have some of the most experienced Tandem Masters in the field. If you have a special requirement, call us! We will do everything we can to make your dream of flight come true!
If you have ear or sinus problems, experience seizures or fainting spells or have a weak heart, you should not be jumping. The best course of action in these cases is to check with your doctor. If you have a medical problem, you will be asked to bring a release from your doctor before you can skydive.
